|Advances and perspectives in gas detection technology

Nowadays, a strong demand for developing high-performance gas detection devices is emerging for many applications, such as precision agriculture, indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring and medical screening. In order to accomplish the market requirements in terms of portability, low cost and small dimensions, the research has been mainly focused on the development of miniaturized gas sensors, based on different chemical-physical working principles.
In this workshop we aim to provide an overview of recent advances in the development of smart gas detection devices, as well as new directions and remaining challenges. In particular, innovative work focused on simulation and device design, the development of new sensing materials and substrates, as well as new approaches on data mining and analysis are welcomed.
The workshop is organized in the aim of the European project Engsurf-twin (https://engsurf-twin.eu/), boosting innovation capacity in engineered surfaces and films for emerging technologies, (project i.d. 952289).
